Deep down Louisiana close to New Orleans

Hello Phlokers! Miami was a blast and a great spot for some R&R.

Now its time to Phlok on. We had a number of good guesses for my next destination but no lucky Phlokers this time. I flew along the southern sea-board passing by “sweet home Alabama”, a brief Phlok stop in Gulfport, Mississippi, and just arrived in the Big Easy – New Orleans, Louisiana! Next stop on my Phlok World Tour!
New Orleans is famous for its Cajun (yum) cuisine, French quarter and of course blues & jazz! Bad timing on my part, I’ve missed out on Mardi Gras – Fat Tuesday which would have been a great time to attract and sign up some Phlokers! I could even have given away some Phlok beads, albeit I’m making a deposit (bird style) every hour…

First stop Bourbon Street – the place is buzzing with locals and tourists. It’s good to see the local economy has recovered from Hurricane Katrina & Rita. Now I have to prepare them for a digital social media Hurricane Phlok and a wave of new Phlokers signing up! A few squawks has everyone wanting to know more about Phlok and how to register. Good news – the Android app is just about ready and the consumer website (www.phlok.me) goes live in a week or so. New users can now access Phlok via Iphone, Ipad, Android and web enabled devices! I hope Paul and the team back home are ready for these new Phlokers!

Off to Magazine St. Wait a minute… there are lots of retailers in this area some of which are enquiring – how do they monetize social media? Sign up for Phlok of course – www.phlok.com Phlok makes social media easy and profitable for local merchants. It’s a fun location based, social / digital loyalty platform, providing local retailers (or merchants) the ability to engage with local consumers with targeted discounts, offers, or messages to all or whatever demographics they choose! Phlok is integrated with Facebook enabling retailers to monetize social media, reward their followers and drive more revenue! www.phlok.com will also give retailers real-time visibility into local consumers – Best of all, it doesn’t require any point of sale equipment or plastic cards – it’s all web enabled! Phloking easy!

New Orleans is one of the top ten most visited cities in the US and I can see why. The architecture, French quarter, culture, stylish boutique hotels, cocktail hours, singles/bar scenes, live music/concerts and bands, antique and vintage shops, cafés/coffee bars, neighbourhood restaurants, and people watching – Phlok City! Plus one of the busiest ports in the world.

The New Orleans Superdome is hosting the Superbowl in 2013 – hundreds of thousands of potential Phlokers! Go Saints!
My Phlok World Tour and mission must go on…

After a couple of nights in New Orleans I’m heading north, where the wind blows and home to a sports team named after wild animals…. Where am I Phloking off to next?

Bienvenido a Miami

Hola, Phlokers!

My next stop was a little Phloker this week. Miami – and congratulations to those who guessed right! 1000 Phlok points are yours to accumulate and spend.

This city has it all – Phlokers, bars, clubs, sun, sea & sand!

First stop to check-in was the Art Deco Historic District on Ocean Drive. This is the largest collection of Art Deco architecture in the world and comprises hundreds of hotels, apartments and of course more potential Phlokers! This is a party town, and when it comes to hosting parties, nowhere does it better than South Beach and no-one likes to party, more than the ‘Phlokster’!

There is no better place to Phlok than Miami South beach! A- list celebrity’s are everywhere and I’m feeling like a celeb myself with the queue of people lining up to learn more about Phlok. There is no better way to express yourself, than Phlok! Plus with all those clubs and bars vying for people’s dollar and attention, then it’s a great place to pitch our Phlok retail offering – connecting local merchants with local consumers, with targeted message campaigns giving retailers real-time visibility of consumers! Phlok me!

It’s been a long day so next to check-in at the beach and catch a few waves. I decided to check out surfing – what an activity and another post for Phlok! But I do need to be careful… I wouldn’t want to give Paul, our CEO the wrong impression :) . This is a work trip after all…. Now where did I put my shades and where am I off to next?

Phlok on!

Washington, DC

I think we should re-name New York – New Phlok, after all of the new Phlokers who have downloaded and are actively using the App. Its now time to take to the skies and move onto the next leg of the journey!
Next stop, a brief visit to the US nations capital – Washington, DC. Congratulations to our Phlokers who guessed my next destination correctly – keep racking up those points!

Thankfully it’s a short flight and a trip to DC would not be complete without a visit to the White House. I was planning to check-in at the White House to present Phlok to BO, but given the lack of Secret Service agents I feared for my safety!

Note to all you Phlokers out there – you can adjust your settings, so all updates, uploaded pictures and check-ins are automatically posted to your Facebook page. Phlok is fully integrated with the Facebook platform, thus making your Phlok experience all the more satisfying!
It was President Obama’s social media skills that helped get him elected… With my Phlok following, maybe I should run for President… President Phlok – sounds good to me!
It was time to do some Phloking as there were a number of tourists around who became interested in the Phlok sound. I posed for a few pictures with my new Phlokers!

Next stop, the Lincoln Memorial… Abraham Lincoln helped abolish slavery – I wish he was around today – maybe he could have a word with Paul, our CEO….
In the words of MLK, “i have a dream”, gives me great inspiration for the growth of Phlok and my mission. Onto the Washington Monument, before Phloking the capitol building.
Time to check-in at Union Station. It was packed – a prime spot for promoting Phlok! All those Phlokers waiting on trains – ALL ABOARD Phlok!

It’s been a great day but I think it’s time for some relaxation… I take to the skies, fly down the eastern seaboard and head to Myrtle Beach. Lots of golf courses – Paul will be so jealous! Its a little cool this time of year but with the Atlantic surf hitting the beach it reminds me of home.
It gives me time to plan my next US city visit. Here’s some clues for all you phlokers – further south, warmer climate, a great beach, celebrity Phlok party hangouts… There is another 1000 points up for grabs for whoever guesses my next destination!

Phlok on!

New York, New York

Finally, I’ve landed in New York. Congratulations to all those who guessed it – you have each won 1000 points for your Phlok account!

I wasn’t sure if I would make it, my wee wings are Phloked! I followed the same route as the fateful voyage of the Titanic 100 years ago, thankfully I didn’t see any icebergs on the way.

I passed over Ellis Island where all the Irish immigrants landed years ago during the potato famine plus I took a perch on the Statue of Liberty (nature called!) where I met a bunch of other feathered friends with funny accents! This must be America – the land of the free!

This city is huge! So many Phlokers, where do I start?

First stop, check-in @ Grand Central Station. Hundreds of Phlokers running to catch the trains and a great place to start Phloking! I sent a few messages to update my Phlok and our CEO so he can see I am actually working :) .

My iPhone is Phloking away and this is attracting attention – “what is that funny noise?” they all ask, each of the people straining to sneak a peek at my iPhone.

“Its Phlok” I say, “go to www.phlok.me or download the App from the App Store“. With that said, I leave them standing staring in awe as I Phlok off to check-in @ Times Square.

Wow! Where are my shades?? So many bright lights, screens and wall-to-wall potential Phlokers! I land below where they drop the Waterford Crystal (another Irish connection) ball on New Years Eve and for nostalgia I drop one of my own!

More Phlok messages on the iPhone and the Phlokers attention turns away from the lights to focus on me, “what is that sound”, “how do I get it?” and I deliver the same message. More Phlokers – “Join my Phlok” I shout as I take to the air!

Next stop check-in on Wall St. The raging bull, the NYSE and the Federal Reserve – this must be where our CEO keeps all his money! How can I get Phloking in there??

New York is incredible! Millions of American Phlokers. Our CEO was right, Phlok must conquer the US – with all these people with funny accents it’s easy pickings!

Guess where i am going to next? 1000 Phlok points to the first 10 people to guess! Clue, it’s 227 miles!

I am Phlok

So, I’ve been instructed by HQ to prepare for a world tour! I’m not sure they noticed but I’m a fat wee bird with tiny wings!

I’ve not been given any plane tickets so I assume I have to make my own way there, for phlok’s sake!

This is the brief I got from the CEO…

“Phlok, its time you pulled your weight. You’ve been sitting in Belfast getting fat and lazy for too long.

I need you to get out and spread the word. Your task is to get as many Phlokers to follow you around the world as you can. Get out there and tell people that your mission is to get as many Phlokers as possible to have fun, connect with friends and change the way they shop by using Phlok.

You have three weeks to cover three continents. Good luck, cos your going to need it. Now Phlok off”

I mean, who does he think he is, there must be laws against this type of avian discrimination.

So here I am in Belfast, Northern Ireland with my list of instructions, which, by the way, include keeping my destinations secret. I don’t think this is for any reason other than they think I might get lost and have to make it up as I go!

So like the last fateful trip that started in Belfast, the Titanic (I know it started in Southampton, but I liked the effect) here I am ready to start my Odyssey at the new Titanic museum getting my first Phlokers onto our service. Ready to fly about 3000 miles to my first destination.

I’m told there are 1000 phlok points available for the first 10 people to guess where I’m heading! (Post on Phlok)

Next blog post will be when I land,

phlok you later!
